At-home Facial Tips

facial tipsThere’s no better form of self-care than a facial and we have the best facial tips. However, many of us don’t have the time or money to get regular facials, especially now when luxuries like that may seem out of reach. But don’t worry, you can still enjoy spa-like results in your very one home if you just follow these tips.

Facial Tips

Cleanse

Cleansing the skin is the first step to any facial. This step is important to make sure your skin is free of any dirt or makeup. Start by using your favorite gentle cream facial cleanser working it around your face in a circular motion. This helps to pick up as much dirt and residue as possible. After that, rinse your face with lukewarm water.

Exfoliate

After cleansing, the next step for your at-home facial is to exfoliate the skin. Exfoliation is important because it helps to clear out any blemishes, breakouts, and bumps that may be on your skin. At this point, you can either use a physical or chemical exfoliant. A physical exfoliant is more like a scrub that has particles inside that physically exfoliate your skin. If you choose that route, we recommend looking for an exfoliant that’s natural like strawberry seeds.

If you prefer to exfoliate using a liquid, look for one that contains a blend of chemical exfoliants such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). Don’t go overboard on this step though, it’s possible to over-exfoliate and strip your skin’s moisture barrier. So stick to one acid exfoliant and you should be good to go. Once you are done exfoliating, rinse your face again with lukewarm water.

Mask

Next, you get to mask up! This is probably the most relaxing part of your facial. Pick a mask that addresses whatever skin concern you’re most focused on like fine lines, hydration, or oiliness. Follow the mask’s directions, relax, then rinse off with warm water.

Hydrate

The final step of your facial process is hydration. Apply a hydrating moisturizing cream across your face once you’ve completed your facial. When buying a moisturizer, look for one that is fragrance-free and has all-natural ingredients.

Don’t forget the ambiance! Listen to some relaxing music and make it a truly decadent experience. We hope these tips help you enjoy skincare at home. If you have more questions or would like to schedule an appointment with us call (480) 610-6366 today.
