How to Treat Yourself Right With an At-Home Facial

Young woman on a towelFacials are a great way to rejuvenate and rehydrate your skin. However, if you’re like the majority of people, you likely don’t have either the time or the money to go to the spa every few weeks in order to get a facial. In between your spa facials, however, you can treat your skin to the same benefits but at home. Read on to learn more.

  1. Cleanse

As the first step to any facial, it’s important to gently and properly cleanse your skin in order to rid it of any dirt or makeup. Simply start by using a gentle cream facial cleanser and work it around your entire face in a circular motion, in order to pick up as much dirt as possible. Then rinse your face with lukewarm water.

  1. Exfoliate

As the next step in the facial process, it’s important to exfoliate your skin in order to clear out any blemishes, breakouts, or bumps that might be taking place. When looking for an exfoliant, look for something that has natural ingredients such as strawberry seeds in it. The less chemicals you introduce to your skin, the less likely you will have an adverse reaction to the product. When exfoliating, focus primarily on the t-zone of your face (forehead, nose, and chin) because this is the area that tends to receive the most breakouts. Once you are done exfoliating, rinse your face with lukewarm water.

  1. Mask

As the most relaxing part of any facial, a face mask will help your skin and body relax fully. Designed to smooth and hydrate your skin, face masks equipped with clay are a gentle way to get your skin feeling a lot healthier. Simply apply a layer of the face mask around your entire face (avoiding your eyes) and let it sit on your skin for about 5-10 minutes. Once the mask has started to harden, simply rinse it off with lukewarm water.

  1. Hydrate

As the final and one of the most important steps of the facial procedure, it’s important to apply a hydrating moisturizing cream across your face once you have completed the above steps. When looking for a moisturizer, look for one that is scent-free and that has all-natural ingredients so that it will be more gentle on your skin.

By following these tips, you can create an at-home facial experience to help your skin stay moisturized and hydrated in between your visits to the spa.
