All About Kybella Treatments
Double chin got you down? Double chins, also known as submental fullness, can really change the way your face looks. Other than excess weight, sometimes a double chin can be genetic and no amount of weight loss will minimize it. So, what are your options for getting rid of a double chin? Have you heard about Kybella?
What is Kybella?
Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved drug to help improve the appearance of a double chin. It was approved by the FDA in 2015 and is identical to something your body makes called deoxycholic acid to dramatically tightens and improve the profile of people with moderate to severe double chins. It is administered through a series of non-surgical injections, no incisions required.
Am I a good candidate for Kybella?
An estimated 67% of Americans have said they’re bothered by their double chin. If you fall into that category and you’re 18 years old or older, you may be a good candidate.
How many treatments are needed to see results?
As with most procedures, this will vary from patient to patient. Many patients feel they only need two or three Kybella treatments to get the desired look they want. You and Dr. Stockton will discuss what bothers you about your neck and chin fullness to determine how many treatments you need. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received six treatments to achieve the results they were looking for. Sessions last less than 30 minutes and are spaced four weeks apart to allow the deoxycholic acid to work.
How quickly will I notice results?
Because the number of treatments varies from patient to patient, it’s hard to say. However, patients usually report seeing noticeable changes after 12 weeks or at least 2 sessions.
This changes depending on the patient because the number of sessions varies so much. Your maximum results can be seen after six months and should be long-lasting if not permanent.
