PRO-NOX Sedation in Phoenix

Keeping You Comfortable with PRO-NOX

Although we don’t perform any procedures that require general anesthesia at Stockton Dermatology, some of our aesthetic procedures such as micro-needling and fractional laser resurfacing can merit topical numbing for many patients. Plus, some patients just want to take the edge off for other procedures such as laser hair removal or RF skin tightening.

We now have the perfect solution. PRO-NOX is s system that delivers nitrous oxide to take the edge off. It is simple, controlled by the patient, and is sure to make any procedure more comfortable for you at Stockton Dermatology.

What is PRO-NOX?

The PRO-NOX Nitrous Oxide System is a pneumatically driven gas mixer that delivers a 50% oxygen and 50% nitrous oxide mixture to the patient right in our Phoenix offices. PRO-NOX is the perfect solution for patients with some anxiety or worried about the discomfort that may accompany treatments, such as ablative skin resurfacing.

What are the Benefits of Adding PRO-NOX to Treatments?

Our Stockton Dermatology patients love PRO-NOX for many reasons:

  • PRO-NOX reduces a patient’s anxiety, allowing them to relax during treatment.
  • PRO-NOX relieves pain or discomfort during more aggressive treatments.
  • The amount of nitrous oxide delivered is controlled by the patient as needed.
  • The nitrous takes effect in just seconds, giving you instant relief.
  • The effects wear off in just five minutes.
  • Patients can drive themselves home after their treatment.
  • Delivery of the analgesic nitrous oxide is simple, inhaled through the mouth or nose.
  • Can be added to any procedure where you feel anxious or don’t want any discomfort.

Who are the Ideal Candidates for PRO-NOX Treatment?

Different people have different pain tolerances. Different people have varying levels of anxiety about various procedures. Some patients find prickly heat delivered with laser hair removal to be uncomfortable. Some people find the injection of dermal fillers somewhat uncomfortable. Certain laser and skin procedures can cause some discomfort.

These reactions are completely unique to each person. Now that Dr. Stockton has added PRO-NOX for our patients, it’s up to you to decide if you want to take the edge off or remove any discomfort involved in various treatments.

Dr. Stockton is very pleasant & thorough. I’ve been a patient for many years & referred friends to her. Her staff is very friendly. 10/10. – C.C.

How Does PRO-NOX Work?

This system is simple to add to any treatment a patient wishes. The PRO-NOX system sits adjacent to the patient and the patient is given a tube. The patient can either opt to have the tube fitted with a mouthpiece or for a facemask that covers both the nose and mouth. The delivery method doesn’t change the amount of nitrous that the patient receives.

We then turn on PRO-NOX and it precisely mixes the 50/50 oxygen/nitrous oxide blend. The patient simply inhales through the mouthpiece or facemask, and the nitrous oxide takes effect almost immediately. The patient can then decide how much nitrous he or she wants because they are completely controlling the delivery.

Is There Any Recovery After PRO-NOX is Used with a Treatment?

That’s one of the remarkable things about PRO-NOX — it takes effect almost immediately upon inhaling the nitrous oxide mix, and it wears off in just five minutes or so. And it wears off completely, allowing patients to drive themselves home afterward. There isn’t any recovery after the nitrous wears off.

What Our Patients Have to Say

“Dr. Stockton is amazing. She went above and beyond to find the best solutions for me. Highly recommend.” -Todd D.

Are There Any Side Effects with PRO-NOX?

No. Nitrous oxide has been used for dental procedures for over 150 years. When mixed in a 50/50 ratio with oxygen, it is remarkably effective and wears off almost immediately. It really is the perfect way to take the edge off treatments at Stockton Dermatology. There can be some slight dizziness or nausea if patients inhale too much nitrous oxide, but this is rare and we talk you through how to effectively use PRO-NOX before we start the treatment.
