For many people, acne is an embarrassing part of puberty and your teen years. For others of us, it can last for years and impact areas other than just your face. While we know that acne is tied to oil build-up and hormones, there are ways to take control and hopefully ease up on the breakouts wherever they seem to pop up on your body.
Pay Attention To Your Diet
“You are what you eat” is a cliche for a reason and when it comes to treating acne, it actually might be true. If you’re eating foods that are high in fat and oils, it’s possible that is contributing to your breakouts from head to toe. If you’ve noticed more breakouts than usual, keep track of what you’re eating and see what those foods have in common. If you’re eating junk, it’s likely that your skin isn’t looking its best either. Try to incorporate fresh foods into your diet, like vegetables and fruits. This should help your skin as well as your overall health as well.
Change Up Your Body Wash
If you’re getting more breakouts on your body, swap out your usual body wash for one with salicylic acid in it. Salicylic acid is an ingredient used in acne treatments that helps to try up pimples and discourage them from coming back. Keep in mind you won’t see improvements instantly, but if you’re diligent about using it, it should help in a few weeks.
Schedule a Consultation and say Bye-Bye to Body Acne
If you’re doing everything you can think of to treat your body acne on your own and it’s still not getting better, it might be time to see a dermatologist. We can give you a full-body scan and take a look at what could be causing your acne. Not only that, but we can also prescribe stronger medications to get you feeling confident again.
