Although the summer months is associated with getting yourself some healthy tan, it’s actually not a good idea to spend endless hours under the sun. Here at our Phoenix dermatology practice, we make it a point to educate our clients on proper skin care the whole year round, including the do’s and don’ts of skin care during summer. Read on!
Do’s of Summer Skin Care
1. Do wear protective clothing. Apart from hats, caps, and sunglasses, it has been shown that unbleached cotton clothes offer excellent sun protection. You might also want to look for clothes designed with SPF features, containing colorless compounds and special resins which tend to absorb UV rays.f
2. Do follow sunscreen label instructions. While most people use sunscreen, what they fail to do is follow label instructions such as applying an ounce (about a shot glass) of sunblock 2 to 3 times a day.
3. Do lookout for sudden skin changes such as changing moles, rough red patches, and skin discoloration. Sudden changes in skin are one of the most distinct characteristics of skin cancer.
